Operation Center uses https://login.genetec.com as login solution for Genetec products.

It suports authentication including:

  • Genetec Portal account (GTAP)

  • Microsoft personal accounts

  • Google

  • Yahoo

  • Integrated Active Directory domain

For testing Operations Center the easiest solution is to use one of your existing accounts from one of the providers above. If you don't happen to have any account you can quickly create a free Genetec account.

Depending on the system configuration one or more ways to login are accepted. For a production environment it is possible to onboard Azure Active Directory or Okta. This will allow single sign in (SSO) with domain users and allow features like group management. For a new integration a domain admin is required.

Advantages

  • Allows SSO with usual user accounts.

  • Allows to use security groups to manage access rights.

  • Automatically will allow or deny access to users based on their status in their domain.E.g. If a person is no longer working at the company, access to Operations Center will no longer be possible.

Disadvantages

  • Initial setup takes time and needs a domain administrator. Normally that is handled by the IT department.

  • Employee data is shared with Genetec including names and email.

  • Active directory group data is also shared with Genetec including membership information.

For proof of concepts or systems with a small number of users we recommend using a GTAP, Microsoft personal-, Google, or Yahoo account. For production uses or systems with a lot of changing users using login integrations (e.g. Active Directory) is recommended.
